On behalf of the BC Environmental Assessment Office, the International Association for Impact Assessment's (IAIA) Western and Northern Canada branch invites you to attend the following session:
As you know, the Environmental Assessment Act (2018), passed in the Legislature on November 2018, came into force on December 16, 2019. On February 11 and 12, the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) offered a 1-day, interactive workshop in Richmond, BC covering the new Environmental Assessment Act (2018), associated regulations and new guidance and policy materials. We appreciate your interest and attendance at the workshop this week. I am writing to let you know about further opportunities to participate in this workshop which you may wish to distribute to your colleagues. Please note that you are receiving this email as a practitioner/consultant who attended the workshop in Richmond this week.
On February 24, the EAO will be running a 1-day workshop in Prince George, and in the near future we will also be running a workshop in Victoria, which will include a webinar option for those in other regions who wish to participate. Both the Prince George and upcoming Victoria/webinar sessions will bring a variety of environmental assessment participants together to develop a deeper understanding of the new Environmental Assessment Act (2018). We will provide interactive opportunities with examples, exercises and lots of engagement. The focus will be first on an overview of the new Act and processes, and then go deeper to develop a strong understanding of the early stages of the process. We will be discussing the “why” and “how” along with the “what” – aiming to provide the necessary tools to engage in the environmental assessment process under the new legislation.
We look forward to hearing from you – parties interested in providing an RSVP for the February 24 Prince George workshop or in being contacted once a date for the Victoria/webinar workshop is confirmed are requested to contact Jennifer Harvie at [email protected].
